Applied Biosystems QuantStudio 12K Flex

By Noah Clinical Laboratory | Updated September 29, 2023

The QuantStudio 12K Flex Real-Time PCR system uses fluorescent-based polymerase chain reaction (PCR) reagents to perform: quantitative detection of target nucleic acid sequences (targets), qualitative detection of targets (endpoint analysis), and qualitative analysis of the PCR product (post-PCR melt curve analysis). The instrument can be run directly from the touchscreen to create and start experiments. To design experiments, analyze data, and run the instrument, it can be integrated with the QuantStudio 12K Flex Real-Time PCR Design and Analysis Software. The QuantStudio 12K Flex Real-Time PCR system features a six-color filter set that supports all Life Technologies dyes. The instrument collects raw fluorescence data at different points during the PCR cycle, depending on the type of run performed. After a run is completed, the QuantStudio 12K Flex software uses calibration data to determine the location and intensity of the fluorescent signals, the dye associated with each fluorescent signal, and the significance of that signal. When an experiment template is created (.edt file) in the software, the optical filter channels through which the instrument collects data can be customized. A filter channel set for all PCR thermal procedures, and optionally, a different filter set for the melt curve stage(s) can be specified.
